Pencil dilemma

Which is worse: a dull pencil point, or a missing eraser?

  1. If you have pencils, then surely one has a pencil sharpener or at least a knife with which the point can be sharpen. So, a missing eraser is worse since another eraser is not always readily available.

  2. Dull pencil - having no lead in your pencil is ALWAYS a bad thing, rubbers are more a protection factor from mistakes ;)

  3. Author Guy Kawasaki uses a dull pencil point as a symbol of a competitive disadvantage on his new book cover. There isn’t an eraser in the picture, I guess because if you have to stop to erase something, your competitors are already getting ahead of you. Personally, I don’t have the experience of running a business with a pencil, but I can say that sudoku with a sharp pencil and no eraser is a thrilling experience.

  4. GAH! Both are terrible things to encounter. ^_^ However, I use a mechanical pencil, so the point never really gets that dull...a missing eraser is quite a problem though. And it's happened to me, many times...*sigh*

  5. I'm going to go with the dull point being worse. One can always cross out if erasing isn't possible. But eventually, that dull point is going to keep you from writing.

  8. A dull pencil is worst, an eraser is just a tool to correct a mistake. you can't create that mistake without not being able to write. In addition, you dont need an eraser if you havent created any mistakes.

  9. I would side with the dull pencil. I can always run a line through my mistakes.
