You had to be there

Think of your own children, or of all the people who are one generation younger than you. What are some things that they don't fully understand because they weren't alive yet when those things took shape? What are some things that you think of as new, but that younger people might think have "always been there" because they never knew a world without them?

If you had the chance, and if you had their attention for a few minutes, what are some things that you'd like to explain to people of the next generation, so they could gain the benefit of your perspective and have a better understanding of the world they live in?

(For those of you too young to have children, think about the people who will be born in the next few years, and how they might see the world about ten years from now. What are some of the new things that they will assume have "always been there"?)

This week's theme is one generation ago.
