In the first years of life we quickly transform from helpless infants into mobile and capable little people. Along the way, there were many first times — for example, the first step you took, the first time you ate with a fork, the first book you read. For most of us, these early accomplishments are hard to remember. What is one early skill or experience that you can clearly remember doing for the first time?
This week's theme is firsts.

The first time I was ever able to count the leaves in a tree, read all the signs on the buildings, see what I looked like in a mirror two foot away, see the shapes of the clouds above me and the stars in the sky at night...this was the first time I wore glasses and I was nine years old.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really neat little story, Emme. My hunch is that a lot of people had the same experience. People who need glasses from childhood often spend a few years just thinking that _everybody_ must be seeing things blurry, like they are.
